Making Christingles

P6/7G made Christingles today.

The orange represents the world. The ribbon symbolises Jesus. The four cocktail sticks are the seasons and the sweets God's bounty. The candle is the light of Jesus.

P6/7G visit Belfast City Hall

In 1888 Queen Victoria granted Belfast city status. Construction of The City Hall began in 1898 and was completed in 1906. So it was a Victorian design!

Not only did we tour the City Hall but we got to meet The Lord Mayor, Deirdre Hargey and Alderman Tommy Sandford. They kindly gave the children selection boxes!

We then had a lovely lunch in The Bobbin before we toured The Christmas Market.

P6/7G make Gingerbread Men

As part of our maths we made Victorian recipe Gingerbread Men. We did add a 21st Century twist by using mini smarties and silver balls. Everyone preferred them compared to raisins!

We used measure for weighing, temperature and time.

Our recipe can can be found on the BBC website

thank you Margaret for helping us , especially with the washing up! ?

8teen smashed it!

Tuesday, November 27, 2018 - 13:45

Another product, another year.  This year's mini company, who named themselves 8teen, are again working closely with Robert McCord, Operations Director from The Odyssey Trust.  Again we had the amazing opportunity of selling our product at the Friendship Four 2018 Ice-Hockey event.  The product which was a limited edition memento embossed with the Giant's logo, was very popular with ice-hockey fans.  8teen were amazing and sold out on all colours!
