We are delighted to have been awarded the title of Best Kept Post Primary School (Belfast) by the Northern Ireland Amenity Council.
Under the lead of Mr Maxwell, assisted by Dr. Davidson , supported by pupils and staff the school has transformed the outdoor spaces to the benefit of all the users of the campus.
We have placed bird boxes and feeders, hedgehog homes, bug hotels and more to encourage wildlife. The wildlife ponds received a much overdue clear out and are teeming with tadpoles, water bugs and even damsel flies. The Nature trail has new information boards and ceramic way marker tiles which in the future will be used for an interactive CGI tour of the trail. The sensory garden has had a facelift and the audio system has been repaired (Thanks Andrew)
The crown of our improvements however must be attributed to Miss Simpson who, before taking retirement last year, secured considerable funding for an outdoor classroom. This amazing space has been used by all classes this year, for a variety of subjects and we hope will continue to develop into a regional leading centre of excellence for environmental and forest school activities.
Well Done Everyone...!!!!
