Maths
Welcome to the Fleming Fulton School Mathematics Department.
In the Mathematics Department we aim to provide all pupils with the necessary mathematical skills which they will need in their everyday lives. Pupils are given opportunities to develop many other skills including problem solving, ICT and working with others. They are also encouraged to appreciate where mathematics fits into other subject areas
Key Stage 3
Pupils in years 8, 9 and 10 study a wide range of topics in the areas of number, algebra, shape, space, measures, handling data and processes. Using mathematics across the curriculum is assessed throughout this key stage.
Key Stage 4
At Key Stage 4 pupils study a course in GCSE Mathematics (AQA Modular) Each pupil is entered for a tier which is considered to be suitable for their ability. For some pupils GCSE is considered too difficult. These pupils follow the Essential Skills Entry Level course and may also study Essential Skills Application of Number at Level 1.
The department has ensured that plenty of support material is available to students through the maths wiki – http://wiki.flemingfulton.org.uk/maths:start
