Toad of Toad HallEvery pupil has access to the Northern Ireland Curriculum for English.

Pupils have access to a wide range of differentiated materials and at the end of Key Stage 3 (year 10) they are teacher assessed and/or sit the non- statutory Key Stage 3 test (according to level of work). At the end of Key Stage 4 pupils sit either the Welsh Board Entry Level Qualification or CCEA GCSE in English, again depending on ability.

Post 16 the pupils begin a course  for one of the following:-

  • a GCSE in English
  • Essential Skills Communication Level 1 or 2
  • Essential Skills in Literacy (Entry Level)

In order to give the pupils as broad an experience as possible we arrange for them to have theatre and cinema visits, work with visiting poets for 'Poetry in Motion' and have theatre workshops in school which are run by various theatre companies.
