Through The Roof

P6 has a long established partnership with Through the Roof, a Christian disability ministry.  They collect used paediatric wheelchairs.  The wheelchairs are refurbished in prison workshops and then transported for redistribution to needy disabled children in developing countries.  This project is called "Wheels for the World."  P6 pupils are involved in the work in a very practical sense, collecting and storing used wheelchairs.  The pupils learn how a wheelchair is put together and they are regularly updated on the work by various members of the "Wheels for the World" team.  They also have opportunities to correspond with some of the children who have received wheelchairs in countries such as Albania, Ukraine and various parts of Africa.
