Classroom Assistants

There are Thirty Five staff who are responsible for the general physical, emotional and social well being of the pupils.
Classroom Assistants work in a class with children each having individual special needs. They provide a learning support to the pupils and assist the teacher and therapist in the implementation and monitoring of programmes set up to help individual pupils to reach their full potential.

They develop a special relationship with the children by supporting and encouraging them and promoting independence. This helps them overcome worries and difficulties they may have about surgery, treatment, personal problems and their attitude to their disability.

Staff supervise meal and social times and play a large part in arranging outings, holidays and special events held through the school year.

Classroom Assistants  provide an important communication link liaising between school, home, therapist, medical staff and outside agencies.
