Jason Browning and Lindsay Cunningham of Year 10 attended this years Bombardier competition in the W5 on Wednesday 28th April, along with many other students from all over Northern Ireland. This competeition was keenly fought by all the students, who came up with many different and wonderful types of aircraft designs.
Jason and Lindsay had to talk to three judges about their model aeroplane, what did they make it of?, how did they design and make it? and finally how they were able to get it to fly. After this tough interview they then had to fly the model for real. The first flight was not a great success as it veered of to the right into some of the audience! But luckily the model was undamaged and after Jason rewound the rubber motor and then making sure of the direction of the launch Lindsay let go! What a flight! - it took off from the table, then sank a little before climbing up again and enventually hitting the far wall! They not only won their section but also achieved the highest score ever in the competition - 97 out of 100!!
